Who Are We?
AEQUITAS LEGAL PARTNERS (short: AequiLex SCP) is the result of years of collaboration in legal research and practice. Based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, our firm specializes primarily in business law. We provide professional legal services including training, consultations, drafting contracts, legal advice, representation before courts or arbitration tribunals in disputes of any nature, interactions with public administration, lobbying, and support for investment projects.
All this is made possible by a qualified and competent team with over 15 years of combined professional experience, enabling us to address client concerns effectively and efficiently. Our firm also collaborates with local and international partners, strengthening its professional network and continuously improving the quality of its services.
Our clients include individuals, businesses, and public or private institutions engaged in diverse activities. We offer them reasonable and sustainable solutions that adhere to the applicable legal standards in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while considering practical strategies from relevant stakeholders on the ground.
Like any other country, the Democratic Republic of Congo has a complex legal system. This system comprises laws, regulations, and administrative or judicial procedures applicable to all individuals or entities conducting economic, philanthropic, or other activities within its territory. However, these rules and procedures can be difficult for non-lawyers to understand and navigate. Moreover, they are subject to constant changes, which are not always effectively communicated, leading to frequent non-compliance by those they apply to.
Non-compliance, however, comes with significant consequences. These may include administrative or even criminal sanctions, as well as prolonged disputes before authorities or courts. Inevitably, such conflicts result in financial losses, wasted time, and potential reputational damage, both in the market and with domestic institutions.
For these reasons, support from experienced legal professionals is indispensable.
